NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION PRESIDENT AND CEO LARRY SCHWEIGER TOURS IOWA ON NWF’S 75TH ANNIVERSARY; CALLS FOR NEW CONSERVATION LEADERS TO SAVE HUNTING AND FISHING FROM CLIMATE CHANGE AND HABITAT LOSS

Larry Schweiger, President and CEO of National Wildlife Federation, will be touring Iowa on Monday, October 24, and Tuesday, October 25, in conjunction with the Federation’s 75th anniversary. Schweiger will be honoring Iowa’s Ding Darling, an NWF founder, avid sportsman and a leader in America’s conservation movement.

Mr. Schweiger will be visiting people and places in Iowa that are important to Iowa’s wildlife, hunting and fishing heritage, speaking about the threat that climate change poses for Iowa’s wildlife and habitat, and calling for new conservation leaders to protect and promote wildlife and habitat for the next 75 years. Iowa’s pheasant population, for example, has fallen to a record low, in large part due to unprecedented winter and spring precipitation over the last five years. Combined with loss of habitat, these weather changes require new conservation leadership in Iowa, the nation, and around the world.
